This photo of the globular cluster M 3 in Canes Venatici was taken on april 24, 2009 from the backyard of my house in Arcidosso, in Italy, near Grosseto, at the prime focus of a Takahashi TSA102 telescope reduced at f/6.3 using a Gemini G41 Obs mount.
The photo is the sum of 12 frames of 12 minutes plus 11 frames of 3 minute, taken using a Canon Eos 40D Digital camera, modified with a Baader IR-Cut filter, at 400 ISO and they were taken with a Mag Zero MZ5-M autoguide on a small refractor 102/500.
I calibrated the frames with Deep Sky Stacker using 13 darks of 12 minutes each, 13 darks of 3 minutes each, 13 flats, 13 darks of flat, 13 bias, then I stacked and summed the resulting frames with Registar, and processed the resulting file with stretching, unsharp mask, color balance, noise reduction.
I'm very proud of this photo because for the first time, using a 4" telescope and a dslr camera I reached mag. twenty.
